Spring Makes me feel like this!
Actually, I think I run around feeling that way pretty much all the time…
Since it is officially spring time, I thought I’d share with you a styled shoot we did moons ago (2009? Maybe 2010? Can’t remember!)… with the awesome Megan of Megan Ann Photography. It had been published on a blog back then but that blog has now gone bye bye (as has the florist and the sweets vendor… as has the dress maker for the beauties featured in our photos, for she is now a big time design house and no longer taking personal orders…) Such is life…
I never the less wanted to share these images with you, they’re just too good not to! This styled shoot was inspired by all things polka dotty fun and fluffly ruffle-y of Spring, from the sweet color palette of pastels to the layers of ruffles in the dresses, to the abundance of blooms. My absolute favorite part of it all was the flowers, I wanted flowers everywhere! More specifically, I wanted an honor attendant corsage! Something avant-guarde and with a little sass! Often the honor attendant is struggling with having to hold her own bouquet, the bride’s bouquet, fluff the dress, etc… why not adorn her with a gorgeous piece of flowery arm deliciousness? Then she can also have free hands! There was two versions of it, one for the ceremony:
and then a version for the reception… a little more dramatic and fun! One of our Swannys that year did actually end up using this idea for one of her attendants and the florist that made that come to life did an incredible job with the idea too!
Then the bouquet was a splash of colorful textures with a variety of blooms to represent everything “wild & free” about spring!
The table scape was SO fun! We shot the whole thing over at the Pearl Hotel just down the street from our studio in Point Loma. Loved this little private space good enough to have an elopement celebration or even a romantic dinner party for two, four or six!
The incredibly fun & whimsical paperie was designed by Paper & Thread, who is just beautifully talented at bringing to life the fun we wanted to convey!
I know I mentioned loving the flowers already… but let me tell you how I know this shoot is hella old… I put a boutonniere on a sweater vest! Who does that?! Me a few years ago that’s who! I definitely suggest that bouts are skipped altogether if the men in the wedding are not wearing a suit (or anything without a lapel collar). But I forgive myself for that faux-pas, mostly because the photo that follows is just lovely… I love the little collar made for Comet, who happens to be my adorable cream piebald doxie! Who says you can’t include your pets in weddings?
I hope your spring is off to being a colorful one!
